The things I realized, observed and learned after reading 'Godan' by Munshi Premchand.

Godan is considered a milestone in Hindi Literature. I am trying to figure out what made me buy Godan and a few other Hindi novels by Munshi Premcahnd. The love for the Hindi language is obviously the most significant reason. But, apart from that it is the name of Munshi Premchand and interest to explore what made him and his novels so famous. I wanted to know, how people used to think, the structure of society, the life of common people in those days, and what things changed for common people. It took me around one month to complete this, reading a few pages daily. It was the middle of the story which took my genuine interest to finish this.   During my visit to my village last year in summer, an incidence shocked me, and brought me here to research deep into it. It was around 7 in morning and I was cycling in peripheral area of my village, and it was not the first day, I was cycling on same route for one month but this time it was early as compare to rest days. I saw some boys smoking marijuana (marijuana) beside road, I was shocked to see this, people smoking marijuana was not a surprise for me, I was knowing this, but teenagers involved in this and doing it early morning and that also beside road, from where everyone passes at that time. That incident scared me so much that, I never went to that road again early morning. Marijuana is widely available illicit cannabis drug in India. According to data from India Today website, consumers of marijuana in different states of India are 3.8% in Delhi, 3.3% Himachal Pradesh, & 7.3 Sikkim.
